Volunteer Opportunities
BOARD MEMBERS
We’re looking for a few good women (or men) to serve on the Board of Directors. Representation is needed, especially, in Flagstaff, Yuma, Kingman, and other population centers outside larger metropolitan areas. Monthly meetings (most by conference call) and commitment to participate in Hall of Fame sponsored events. Are you a leader with a desire to advance quilting in Arizona? Would you like to represent the Hall of Fame in your area? Contact us!
QUILTERS S.O.S. - SAVE OUR STORIES
Transcribers - Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame will soon begin conducting interviews with Arizona quiltmakers and capturing their stories as part of the Alliance for American Quilts Quilters S.O.S. - Save Our Stories project. A group of volunteers has already been trained in interview protocol. Our current need is for volunteers willing to transcribe audio tapes into a typewritten documents. We are told that each tape takes about six to eight hours of work to transcribe, but this may be less depending upon your transcription experience. Experience as a transcriptionist, clearly, a big plus! Two to three week turnaround commitment is needed! Tape machine provided, all postage costs covered. Training on document format and protocols will be provided. Interested? Want the details? Contact us!
MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES
Arizona will be celebrating its 100th birthday in 2012! Did you know that Arizona was the last territory in the Lower 48 to become a state? Plans are underway to celebrate this historic occasion...quilter style! Check out the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project page on this site. Does anything sound interesting? Get involved on the ground floor. There will be lots of opportunities both large and small that will need volunteer power to be successful. Click here to Contact us for more details or to have someone from the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project talk with you.
BOOTH ASSISTANT
Help out at the Hall of Fame booth at your favorite quilt show. We need volunteers to welcome booth visitors, chat about the Hall of Fame, and, often, help sell chances for our opportunity quilt and its pattern. We try to have at least two people in the booth at all times. Just an hour or two in our booth will give you a break from the show and vendors, and be most appreciated! If you'll be at the shows, and can help, please contact us!
