Linda Adkins, Phoenix was honored as an individual Friend of the Year in 2012 for her work on the Arizona Quilt Project Committee. She was instrumental in putting together many of the printed projects of the group. Her knowledge of Arizona quilting and quiltmakers was an asset to the committee. Linda has a wonderful volunteer spirit taking her turn at sitting with the Hall of Fame Booth when help was needed.

Barbara Polston, "Quilter by Avocation" was honored as Organizational Friend of the Year 2012 for her insight and well wishes as the Hall of Fame Board attempted to fill her shoes. She did a remarkable job as founder and first President of the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame and set a strong example as a past president. Barbara sent emails and phone calls throughout the year saying "I am sticking my nose in here" at just the right times and offered advice when asked and encouragement when needed.

Carole A. Cohen, Phoenix, was honored as one of the 2011 Individual Friends of the Year for her leadership of the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project. As Co-Chair of the Project, Carole directed the Project in successfully producing a commemorative fabric line and quilters’ challenge with that line, developing the 100 Years/100 Quilts exhibit, and raising the necessary funding for the Project while involving quilters from across the state. Arizona Centennial Quilt Project is a designated Legacy Project of the State of Arizona.

Wanda Seale, Phoenix, was honored as one of the 2011 Individual Friends of the Year for her leadership of the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project. As Co-Chair of the Project, Wanda assumed responsibility for the creation of the Arizona Centennial Commemorative Quilt. Working with a core group of designers, the unique, two-sided quilt is a testament to Arizona, its history, and the skill of its quiltmakers. The quilt will be the centerpiece of the 100 Years/100 Quilts exhibit and be deeded to the Arizona Historical Society Museum in Tucson, Arizona.

Rim Country Quilt Roundup was honored as the 2011 Organizational Friend of the Year. Rim Country has been an excellent partner to Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame, offering us display space at their annual quilt show, engaging in mutual promotion, and providing the Hall of Fame with significant financial support.

Lenna DeMarco, Sun City, was honored as one of the 2010 Individual Friends of the Year for her leadership of the Quilters S.O.S. - Save Our Stories Project of Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame. This Project, in partnership with the Alliance for American Quilts, captures the stories of living quiltmakers for preservation with the Alliance and in the Library of Congress. Lenna also is actively involved in the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project.

Sally Hatfield, Globe, was honored as one of the 2010 Individual Friends of the Year for her work as the Friends’ Liaison. A founding member of Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame Board of Directors, Sally has continued as a volunteer vital to the organization by maintaining our Friends database and helping us make sure we appropriately recognize and honor all of our valued Friends.

Arizona Quilters Guild was recognized as the 2010 Organizational Friend of the Year. The Guild has supported Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame since its inception, provides display space at its annual quilt show, and faithfully shares Hall of Fame news with its membership through The Patchwork Chatter, the guild newsletter.

Ronnie Chavez, Queen Creek, was honored as the 2009 Individual Friend of the Year. Ronnie was the first volunteer for the Hall of Fame outside of its Board of Directors and took an active role on the Education Committee. Through Ronnie’s efforts, the Arizona Centennial Quilt Project found a home under Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame.

Tucson Quilters Guild was recognized as the 2009 Organizational Friend of the Year. Tucson Quilters Guild has been a strong supporter of Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame, providing us with significant and appreciated grant support. The Guild provides display space at its annual quilt show and regularly reports on Hall of Fame activities through its web site and newsletter.
