The 2016 Shop of the Year award goes to a very deserving:

Odegaard’s Sewing Center in Flagstaff, Arizona

Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame is very happy to recognize one of Arizona’s oldest, continuing quilt stores. Odegaard’s opened in 1970 by the current owner, Charlie’s, grandparents. For 3 generations, the shop has grown with the times and now provides a primary stock of 100% cotton quilting fabrics. This shop serves Northern Arizona with fabric, classes, tutorials, as well as several different brands of sewing machines and sewing furniture. Odegaard’s is very active in the community, as well. They sponsor Food Drives for the Northern Arizona Food Bank, partner with the Marine Corps league to collect torys for Christmas, display fund raising quilts for quilt quilds, and providing gift certiicates to support various community organizations. They also provide king and queen-sized quilts for raising funds for non-profits such as the American Cancer Society, donate items to the Hopi Elders and the local jail for their sewing/quilting programs. Charlie is said to greet every customer with a smile and welcome. It is a not-so-well kept secret that many quilters from all over the state always include Odegaard’s in Flagstaff in their travels. Congratulations Odegaard’s, we are pleased to honor you at the 2015 Event.
